The Paraclete, the Consoler Promised by Christ

‘If Judaism is the religion of the Father (of Jehovah), if Christianity is the religion of the Son (Jesus), Catharism is the religion of the Spirit (the Paraclete).

Just as Christianity broke away from Judaism by the Word, Catharism broke away from ecclesiastical Christianity by the Paraclete.’

According to the Christianity of the churches, mankind is saved by the Son.
To believe in Him brings salvation.

For the Cathars, Salvation proceeds from the Paraclete, the Consoler.
He, the Holy Spirit, awakens the soul from its drunken sleep in matter, to lead it to its primary mission and gives it the desire of the Absolute, for God.

Listening to the Word is then knowing oneself to be the bearer of the Light Spark of the true God and making it grow as the strength of the Son.
