The Cathar Church: a 'Paracletian' Church

‘Catharism which claimed the Christian Church to be its mother, ignored the Jewish synagogue. The latter had expelled the Christian church as being too intellectual.

The Christian church, having become Catholic, expelled in its turn the Cathar church as being too spiritual, too idealistic …. So the Cathar church, which still pretended to the title of Christian, would, after that development, bear the name of “paracletian”.
It is the “Church of Consolation”, pure and purifying, saintly and sanctifying, consoler and consoled in the exile of the world.

It is the Consolation of the universe: it disdains the world, loathes blood, extinguishes hell, converts Satan and proclaims universal salvation.

By this bold evolution, Catharism can be considered as a new religion which broke free from the church as the butterfly from its chrysalis. That transformation, which was its great misfortune in the past, will in the future lead to a glorious resurrection.'
