 The following question is often asked: ‘From which source did the Cathar Perfect Ones, the peacemaker heroes of the Spirit, who longed for a new, living original Christianity, draw the force, courage and love they needed to accomplish Perfection?’
This source was in their reborn soul, renewed by the Spirit (by the Consolamentum) and by its partaking in the domain of immortal souls. It is this secret, inexhaustible source that the enemies of the Cathars tried to annihilate by destroying the outside garment of the Religion of Love, which they wanted to capture, but for goals other than the liberation of human souls.
