Hanging on the hill-side of the valley of one of the tributaries of the Ariège river, there is a huge steep rock, standing like a gigantic pin; Vic de Sos.
This impressive rocky mass was formerly crowned by one of the most powerful castles of the Tarusk country (which will later become the Sabarthez). Presently the only remains of the Montreal de Sos castle, which was dismantled by Richelieu, are some sections of the walls and a double exit cave, a small initiation cave.
